Jan-Philipp Pfander has been appointed managing director at

Moelis & Company. He was most recently head of chemicals for Europe, Middle East and Africa at JP Morgan. Before that he was head of European chemicals at Lehman.

As in his previous roles, he will provide financial and strategic advice to companies in the sector as well as the wider materials sector at Moelis. He will be based in London and starts at the firm in June.

“The chemicals industry is experiencing a pick-up in M&A activity as companies are increasing their exposure to differentiated technologies and growth markets while exiting underperforming assets. Global consolidation continues to create shareholder value in an industry benefiting from long-term mega trends,” said Kasim Kutay, co-head of Europe at Moelis.

AMMB Holdings Bhd , Malaysia’s fifth biggest lender, appointed Mohamed Azmi Mahmood as its acting group managing director, effective April 2.

Azmi was appointed as deputy group managing director on April 2012. He will replace Ashok Ramamurthy, whose contract as group managing director ends on April 1. (bit.ly/18ObeA8)

The process of identifying a new group managing director is ongoing, the bank said.

AMMB on Jan. 29 said Ramamurthy will return to Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) to take on a senior executive role.

ANZ is the largest shareholder in AMMB, with a stake of around 24 percent.

Capita Asset Services, a unit of British outsourcing group Capita Plc, said it appointed Mary Bruen and Joe O’Donnell to strengthen its alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) capabilities.

Bruen joins the firm as a functional director after working with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

O’Donnell joins as head of investment risk for Capita Financial Managers (Ireland) Ltd. Prior to joining Capita, he worked as a director of Prescient Fund Management Ltd.
