Subway to create 3,000 jobs by moving beyond core fast-food outlets.
Subway is undertaking a concerted push beyond its core fast-food outlets and is to begin selling its sandwiches in sports stadiums and army barracks, creating 3,000 jobs.
The move comes as Subway aims to capitalise on its new found-status as the biggest fast-food chain in the world, after it recently overtook McDonald’s.
Holly Valance joins Foster’s Gold push.
Foster’s Gold, Heineken UK’s premium brand extension of its Foster’s variant, has signed up Holly Valance to star in its debut ad campaign.
The campaign by Adam & Eve will feature the Australian actress and model and regular Foster’s characters, Brad and Dan, in a multi-million pound TV and print campaign.
PepsiCo, the US food and drinks giant, has appointed company veteran Sebastian Micozzi as its new head of marketing for Walkers crisps in the UK, overseeing a 28-strong marketing unit.
Johnston Press has appointed Ashley Highfield, former vice-president of Microsoft UK¹s consumer and online division, to replace John Fry as its chief executive.
Hamish Pringle will return to the agency scene after he steps down as the IPA director-general this week by joining the integrated agency 23red as a strategic advisor.
He will work as a contact between the agency and its most senior clients as well as helping its new-business drive.
Pringle is likely to devote two days per week to the agency, combining it with his work as an Advertising Standards Authority council member.
ABERDEEN ASSET MANAGEMENT
The asset manager appointed Ben Pakenham as a portfolio manager and credit analyst to its high yield bond team. Pakenham joins from Henderson Global Investors, where he was manager of the Henderson Extra Monthly Income Bond Fund and co-manager on the Henderson High Yield Monthly Income and Fixed Interest Monthly Income Funds.
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND
The bank named Helen Gordon as head of West Register, its investment company. Gordon joins from Legal and General Investment Management, where she was property director of its life fund.
The emerging markets investment bank appointed Saydam Salaheddin as a managing director, based in Moscow. Prior to that, Salaheddin was a London-based analyst in Credit Suisse’s consumer, food, retail and services group.
The investment manager appointed Tim Horne as the DC investment solutions manager. He joins from Towers Watson , where he worked as an investment consultant. It also appointed James Bourne as platform relationship manager. Bourne joins from Fidelity International, where he was responsible for relationship management of various fund partners.
The financial advisory group appointed three senior wealth managers for its 360° Service. Chris Albert joins as the sales director, while Rob Bennett and Jasper Walshe join as business development managers.
HSBC Private Bank named Cecilia Smith as a senior vice president and relationship manager. Previously, she served as a senior director at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, a unit of Bank of New York Mellon Corp .
The unit of Legg Mason Inc announced two senior appointments in its global investment team. Gordon Brown joins from Baillie Gifford & Co as a portfolio manager on the global markets team. Chia-Liang Lian has been hired as head of investment management, Asia (ex-Japan). Lian joins the firm from PIMCO.
