Car manufacturer Ford is to suspend all advertising activity in the News of the World until parent company News International completes a full investigation of the Milly Dowler phone-hacking allegations. Along with Ford, utilities firm npower has also stated that it is currently reviewing its advertising with the paper, as more advertisers respond to an increasing public backlash over the incident.

Sky has launched an ad campaign featuring a host of celebrities such as Dizzee Rascal and Peter Crouch to promote Sky Sports’ new service, Sky Go.

Motorola has restructured its global marketing operations, following the promotion of Andrew Morley to UK and Ireland general manager.
Morley, the Motorola vice-president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, will take control of the handset manufacturer’s wider UK business.

Foreign exchange specialist Travelex has hired Philip Hanson, the former HBOS marketing and ecommerce director, in the same role.
Hanson, who left HBOS last year, will be responsible for developing global marketing, CRM and ecommerce activities across Travelex’s network of 800 stores in 25 regions worldwide.

Paddy Power lead marketer Barni Evans, who pioneered the betting company’s controversial advertising strategy, is to leave his role after 10 years.
Evans will become marketing director for Paddy Power’s two Australian businesses, International All Sports (IAS) and Sportsbet, in September.
As marketing director, he oversaw several high-profile campaigns, including 2010’s most-complained-about TV spot, featuring blind footballers apparently kicking a cat.

Maximuscle, the sports-nutrition brand, is launching a multimedia campaign featuring cricketer Stuart Broad and other sporting stars, in a bid to normalise the brand in the eyes of the public.

Lee Daley, the chief strategy officer for McCann Erickson Worldwide, has resigned after just over a year in the role.
Daley, a member of the network’s global leadership team, submitted a resignation letter last week, which according to reports in the US press, made reference to “unprecedented” challenges he faced on McCann accounts such as L’Oreal and General Motors.

OMD Group UK has hired Paul Wright, the former Sky Digital Media director of sales, as chief digital officer.
Wright, who will lead digital across OMD UK and Manning Gottlieb OMD, takes over from Matt Simpson, who has been promoted to the role of head of digital, Omnicom Media Group, EMEA.

Publicis Modem has promoted its creative director, Alix Pennycuick, to the role of executive creative director.
He takes on a role vacated by David Prideaux, who recently became the executive creative director of the newly-formed Publicis Chemistry.

Creature, the Seattle-based independent agency that boosted its UK offering in February by hiring the Mother creatives Ben Middleton, Stuart Outhwaite and Ed Warren, has moved to further strengthen its London team.


The financial services firm, a part of the Macquarie Group , appointed Takumi Tanaka as a managing director to lead the industrials team. Tanaka was formerly a managing director –financial sponsors, Asia with Barclays Capital. Macquarie Capital also appointed Yasuo Kanzaki as senior adviser. Kanzaki joins from Nikko Cordial Securities.


The bank said it had appointed Bernard Delpit as group finance director, replacing Bertrand Badre.

Delpit, 46, will be joining Credit Agricole as of August 29 and will report to Michel Mathieu, deputy chief executive in charge of central functions, insurance and asset management, the bank said in a statement on Tuesday.


The London-based securities and investment banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group appointed Stephan Eckhardt as director at its equity capital markets team. Eckhardt joins from UniCredit, London.


The company said Mirko Boettcher joined as head of European third-party distribution. He joins from Schroders Investment Management.

The company also said Gunnar Knierim joined in Munich as an adviser for Germany. Over the last six years, Knierim has held senior sales roles for Pioneer Investments in Germany.


The investment bank appointed Matthew Sperling as a managing director and head of equity advisory for North America. He joins from Jefferies, where he was a managing director in the equity capital markets group.


The company named Donato Savatteri as country head in Italy. Most recently, Savatteri was commercial director at Franklin Templeton Investments in Italy.

Frédéric Cruzel has been appointed head of sales in France, based in Paris. Cruzel was most recently deputy sales director for France at Amundi Asset Management.


The brokerage firm appointed David Simons as global head of operations. Prior to this Simons was a managing director at Goldman Sachs .


The company promoted Andrew Carr to operations leader at its Atlanta office. Carr joined Integro in 2006 from Marsh & McLennan , where he served as managing director of Marsh Atlanta’s client executive practice.
