French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde looks set to emerge Tuesday as the International Monetary Fund’s new chief, maintaining the tradition of a European heading the global lender.

Lagarde, 55, should easily get the majority support of the IMF’s board over Mexico’s central bank governor, Agustin Carstens, to become the first woman to head the institution.

Vodafone has turned to its McLaren Mercedes F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button to star in its latest promotional film for its VIP service.

The F1 teammates can be seen styling, directing and photographing an eccentric high-end British Summer fashion shoot under the watchful eye of stylist Valentine Fillol-Cordier.

Graham Duff, the former EMEA president for Interpublic’s Mediabrands division, has resurfaced as European managing director of Miroma after 18 months’ sabbatical.

Duff left Mediabrands where he was responsible for the European activities of UM, Initiative and IPM, in November 2009.


The investment banking group of the global investment firm, announced the expansion of its Special Situations & Restructuring (SSR) group. Suneel Mandava has been hired as a managing director, and Sherri Toub as a senior associate. Mandava and Toub will be located at the firm’s Chicago headquarters and report to Geoffrey Richards, head of William Blair’s SSR group.


ABN AMRO Private Banking named Rohit Anand as market manager for the NRI client segment, covering Singapore, Hong Kong and the Middle East. Anand was previously with Citibank also serving the NRI client segment in Dubai.


J.P. Morgan Private Wealth Management(PWM) made the following appointments in Asia:

Edwin Lim joined as managing director, market manager for Greater China and will be based in Hong Kong. Most recently, he was Northeast Asia head of DBS Private Bank.

Gabriel Chan has joined as managing director and will lead the Singapore-based PWM Greater China bankers. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, he was a Team Head for China/North Asia markets at the DBS Private Bank based in Singapore.

Patrice Huang has joined as vice-president based in Hong Kong covering PWM clients in Greater China. She comes from DBS Private Bank where she was a team head for the PRC & Taiwan markets.

Eric Goh has joined as executive director and investor team lead for PWM in Singapore. Previously, he was head of investment advisory group and regional head of investment consultants at BNP Paribas Wealth Management.


Andrew Heath has been promoted to Head of Sales. He joined Oriel Securities in 2009 from Arden Partners and had previously been Head of Sales at Numis Securities and Hoare Govett Securities and also was at ABN Amro Bank, where he worked for 14 years.


The group appointed James Rawlingson as Group Finance Director. He has previously worked as the Chief Financial Officer of Coutts’ wealth division and also worked at UBS Wealth Management.


Hedgebay promoted Lindsey Clavel to Managing Director for Europe. Lindsey will be responsible for determining the strategic direction and growth of the Hedgebay business, while her principal focus will centre on the firm’s European business. Lindsey will also be responsible for operations in MENA and Australasia. Previously Lindsey spent 10 years running the metals trading desk of an Italian industrialist’s family office.


HSBC Holdings Plc named Paul Skelton as co-head of its global banking business for the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region. Skelton was most recently deputy head of global banking for Asia-Pacific, handling the bank’s major client relationships in the region.


Cowen Group Inc appointed Chris McCabe as managing director and head of technology, media & telecommunications (TMT) investment banking. Previously, he was managing director and global co-head of the clean technology and renewables and industrials groups at Piper Jaffray.

Blake Williams joins as managing director, head of semiconductors and capital equipment group. Williams also comes from Piper Jaffray where he was managing director in the technology, media and telecommunications group and head of semiconductor, component and communications coverage.

Jose Cobos will join as managing director, head of internet group, from Piper Jaffray where he was principal and head of internet investment banking.


AXA Investment Managers named Irshaad Ahmad as head of UK and Nordics. He was most recently executive managing director, UK and global retail at Russell Investments.


Benjamin Riback joined BMO Capital Markets as a director in the food, consumer & retail group from Citi Global Investment Banking.


UBS appointed John Dyment as global head of hedge fund distribution. He joins from Shumway Capital Partners.
