Unilever, the global FMCG giant, has named Harish Manwani as its new chief operating officer amid a major reorganisation of the company’s category and go-to-market structure that adds a new “refreshment” division, while Mike Polk exits.

Manwani is currently president, Asia Africa, Central and Eastern Europe and will take up the position of chief operating officer on 1 September.

Ogilvy UK chairman Paul O’Donnell has been elected as the new chairman of the UK chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA).

O’Donnell who is also the vice-chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Europe, Africa and Middle-East, and a member of the worldwide executive committee, will replace Michael Toedman on 1 July.

Engine has appointed Jonathan Peachey, the chairman of its strategy consultancy Transform, to the newly created role of group chief operating officer.

Peachey will work alongside group chief executive Peter Scott and group finance director Peter Harris, to expand Engine’s global offering through acquisitions in Asia and the US.


The bank made the following promotions in its fixed income division — Henri Foch is named as global deputy head of fixed income; Bob Hawley will move to Hong Kong to become head of fixed income, Asia Pacific; and Christian Mundigo and Kip Testwuide as co-heads of fixed income, Americas.


The firm appointed Marco Schaller as head of service management & offering development and Andreas Bickel as head of strategic asset allocation and advisory, Switzerland. Schaller joins from UBS. Bickel joins from Goldman Sachs.
