News Corp edges closer to Sky deal. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is believed to be another step closer to approving News Corporation’s takeover of BSkyB, though the process is likely to run into July.

Simon Hetherington, marketing director of Kia UK, is moving to a new role of dealer development director within the Korean car marque.

Hetherington, who joined Kia as its lead UK marketer in 2007, will oversee the development of Kia’s dealership chain, including targeting new locations and improving customer experience. He will take up the role on 1 July.


ITV is cutting more jobs as part of the ongoing review of its commercial team, with group account directors Jordan Wisbey and Steve Chambers believed to have left the broadcaster.

ITV’s commercial sales team will be restructured into a client activation team and a multi-disciplined agency sales team around the main media agency groups, and it is expected that many job titles and roles will change.


Nick Cohen, the BBC’s commissioner for factual and arts multi-platform projects, is leaving after nine years to join MediaCom.

Cohen has been appointed as the managing partner and the UK head of MediaCom Beyond Advertising, the division that specialises in mobile, social media, events, sponsorship, search engine optimisation and digital creative.


Leagas Delaney has poached the creative duo Pete Davies and Adam Rimmer from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

Davies and Rimmer, who were art director and copywriter at AMV BBDO respectively, will now work as a creative team in the same roles at Leagas Delaney across clients including Dyson and Timberland.



Citi’s Canadian Global Transaction Services business named Stephanie Zee as head of cash management. Zee joins Citi after holding roles at Intact Financial Corporation and Scotiabank .


The British insurer appointed industry veteran Trevor Matthews to run its UK division after the surprise resignation of Mark Hodges, seen as a potential candidate for chief executive.


The investment banking arm of Evolution Group appointed Patric Johnson as head of distribution responsible for both research and sales. Johnson was most recently chief operating officer of Europe and Asia for ICAP Equities.


The bank appointed David Hodson as managing director within the regional strategic client coverage group for the bank’s oil and gas segment, based in Dubai. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the global oil and gas industry.


The bank appointed Alan Mudie as chief investment officer (CIO) of UBP Private Banking. Previously, he was CIO at BNP Paribas International Private Bank.


The insurance products distributor appointed Mark Hodges as group chief executive. He was formerly the U.K. chief executive of Aviva .


The investment bank appointed Geoffrey O’Malley as managing director, investment banking, effective immediately. Previously, he served as chief financial officer for European Metals Recycling’s wholly owned U.S. subsidiary.
