News International (NI) is poised to restructure its 50-strong marketing department to allow greater collaboration across its newspaper brands.

The proposals include the appointment of an overall day-to-day marketing director across The Sun, News of the World, Times and Sunday Times brands who would report directly to chief marketing officer Katie Vanneck-Smith.

 

Aegis Media has appointed former PHDiq head John Murray as president of the network’s Digital Action Group.

Murray will be based in London in the new digital post and report to Mark Cranmer, Aegis Media global executive director and chief executive of the Isobar digital network.

 

Media Week has expanded its editorial team with a new editor and deputy editor, who aim to take the brand to the next level with the launch of a number of new initiatives.

The new Media Week editor is Jeremy King, who will also retain the editorship of sister Haymarket Business Publications title Event, while Mark Banham has been promoted to the role of deputy editor.

New York-based investment management firm Spring Mountain Capital LP appointed Avi Faliks and Jamie Weston Managing Directors in its private equity business.

DELOITTE & TOUCHE LLP

Accounting and consulting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP appointed Jeannie Lewis and Bryan Morris in its Asset Management Services team.

STANDARD CHARTERED PLC

Lender Standard Chartered PLC said it appointed Julio Rojas as CEO, Americas replacing David Stileman, who will become Chairman, Americas.

AVIVA INVESTORS

British insurer Aviva’s asset management arm said it appointed Ashish Dafria, CFA as Director of Credit Research in North America.

LLOYDS BANK CORPORATE MARKETS

The unit of Lloyds Banking Group appointed Charlotte Hurley to its trade finance team.

HSBC

Europe’s biggest bank named Antoine Cahuzac as chief executive officer of HSBC Private Bank France.

CITI

The bank appointed Abhay Pande as head of South East Asia Industrials Global Banking.

UNICREDIT

The Italian bank said Erik Nielsen will join as global chief economist and head of economics & fixed income/fixed currency research, effective September 1.

MIZUHO INTERNATIONAL

The London-based securities and investment banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group named David Ramsey as director of rates trading and Graham Hawes and Brian Jensen as directors of credit trading.

OTKRITIE FINANCIAL CORP

The Russian financial group named Johannes Berner and Alexey Karakhan as deputy chief executive officers.

SCHRODERS PLC

The global asset management company named Kate Jones as head of investment services. Jones joins from BlackRock where she was head of structured solutions portfolio management for Europe.

FIXNETIX

The financial management services provider said Eric Barret joined as general manager of sales, Americas, to be based in New York.

LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE

The insurer named Jason Yip and Ben Mahon as senior commercial combined underwriters, Mike Henderson as broker account manager and Simon Mulvee as business development assistant.

It also appointed Liz Perry as commercial combined underwriter and Ruth Briscoe as underwriting assistant.

The firm said Tracy Harding joined as senior commercial combined underwriter, Samuel Oatley as business development assistant, Andrew Shepherd as commercial combined underwriter and Mark Alton as regional casualty manager.

JUPITER ASSET MANAGEMENT

The UK-based firm said Amanda Sillars and David Lewis are to join its Merlin fund of funds team.

STATE STREET CORPORATION

The world’s third largest institutional investor named Maria Cantillon as global head of sales at its alternative investment solutions business, based in London. Cantillon was previously head of alternative investment managers and a member of the executive committee at BNP Paribas Securities Services in London.

RENAISSANCE CAPITAL

The emerging markets investment bank hired Leonard Ellis as New York head of equity derivatives and structuring.

J.P. MORGAN ASSET MANAGEMENT

The unit of JPMorgan Chase & Co named Carlos Salamonde as chief executive officer of its investment management business in Brazil. Salamonde joins from Banco Itau Unibanco where he was head of corporate distribution and sales for the asset management division.

NOMURA

The brokerage said Ellen Zentner has joined the firm as executive director and senior economist for the US. Before joining Nomura, Zentner was senior US macro economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.

PRAGMA SECURITIES

The independent provider of innovative trading solutions named Jaime Jofre as chief technology officer.
