Investment banking firm, Jefferies, appointed Peter Bacchus as joint head of European investment banking and global head of metals and mining investment banking. Separately, it also appointed Richard Allan as the European head of metals and mining investment banking. Both Bacchus and Allan joined Jefferies from Morgan Stanley.
Zain Group, the leading network operator in the Middle East, has announced two senior appointments as part of the ongoing restructuring and consolidation process focusing on the growth of its cash generative regional operations. This is pursuant to the sale of its African assets in 2010 and the recent retirement of several executives.
BANK OF AMERICA MERRILL LYNCH
The firm said it appointed Bob Elfring as head of investment banking for Benelux and Northern Europe. Elfring will join the bank in July 2011 and will be based in Amsterdam. Earlier, Elfring was at Credit Suisse where he was head of Investment Banking for Northern Europe, including Benelux and Scandinavia.
The wealth management unit of Merrill Lynch appointed Jeremy Brown as head of investment solutions for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Brown comes from UBS, and in his new role will be responsible for the development, delivery and after sales support of product and wealth solutions.
Merrill Lynch also hired an adviser team from UBS and a branch manager from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
According to filings with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Brothers David and Kenneth Ramirez joined Merrill Lynch’s office in Paramus, New Jersey from UBS while Shamus O’Rourke has joined Merrill Lynch in New Haven, Connecticut from Morgan Stanley.
The human resources consulting and outsourcing business of the world’s largest insurance broker, Aon, said Duncan Brown has joined its UK reward team.
The wealth management unit of the investment bank appointed Tony Marsh as a wealth adviser based in London. Marsh joins Barclays Wealth from Full Circle Asset Management, a privately owned, independent wealth management firm.
The investment management group said it appointed Duane Hasnip as investment sales manager for the East of England. Hasnip joined AXA Investment Managers from Premier Asset Management where he was responsible for sales in London and the South East.
The financial advisory and asset management firm said it has hired Yan Lan as a managing director and head of greater China investment banking, effective April. Lan joins Lazard from Gide Loyrette Nouel, where she was an advisor on mergers and acquisitions and foreign direct investment projects in China.
The firm also promoted healthcare specialist Alexis de Rosnay to serve as co-head of UK investment banking alongside media banker Nicholas Shott, a spokesman for the investment bank said.
Subway is set to appoint Burger King’s Manaaz Akhtar as its UK marketing director. Akhtar, who will take up the role at the end of the month, joins after two years as senior marketing manager at Burger King. She replaces Roy Clouter, who has been Subway’s interim marketing director since September. Clouter was brought in after Alex Cacouris, marketing director for four years, decided to leave to train for ordination at the Church of England.
Starcom MediaVest has appointed Barbara Kittridge as global client managing director.
Specific Media, the online ad network, has appointed Chris Worrell, former insight manager at News International, to the newly created role of European research manager.
